You may or may not have noticed that not a lot has been happening at bugcafe recently. That isnt actually true, but what has been happening is that after 8 years I thought it was the right time to give bugcafe an overhaul. Get rid of old files that are no longer used, revamp things that looked like it needed it, fix some bugs that need fixing and give bugcafe a fresh look. After having the same look for 8 years, it is starting to look old and I have in recent times received a few suggestion box suggestion to say as such, so I have embarked on a quest to freshen bugcafe, fix bugs and add new things to make it even better experience for you.
So first things first, the new look. Dont panic if you like the old one better, I am actually making bugcafe themed based, which means that you can switch between the new look and the old look and if you are brave, embark on creating your own look for the site (you will need to know HTML to do this and contact me if you want to do this so i can tell you what you need to do. )
The new look looks similar to the message board look:

Menus and things have not been messed with much so you will still be able to find things without much trouble, it will just look different.
Some games have had a revamped graphics:

links in games have been buttonised, not only does this make the pages look nicer, it also makes the links you need to get to to complete your turns easier to identify.
What about live play? has that gone forever? no definitely not, that has been through a revamp. It is now more connected to the rest of the site, using the dictionary from the live play will no longer be a problem. It is now possible to play with 4 players instead of just 2. no longer do you need to register in any way to use it.
the four player mode keeps you up to date with who is currently taking their turn, so you know whats going on.
There are plans to add some more features like timezones, so that all times listed on the site in your preferred time zone.
There is no set time as to when all this will be rolled out, but I do expect to be opening it for limited beta testing reasonably soon. Based on the responses received from teh early beta testers will depend on how soon the new system is brought in.
Once this is all done, bugcafe will be in a better position to expand in 2010 with some more games planned and hopefully lots more fun!
